Emma Raducanu is continuing to show the form that won her the US Open, after reaching the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.

Raducanu beat Amanda Anisimova once again, backing up her victory from the Australian Open earlier this year.

This is the third consecutive American player that she has beaten, with Raducanu also overcoming Emma Navarro and McCartney Kessler in her two matches prior.

As a result of this resurgent form, Raducanu finds herself in a position that she has only been in once before.

Emma Raducanu matches US Open feat for the first time at the Miami Open

Raducanu won the US Open in 2021, shocking the world after becoming the first ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam title.

Results to that level have been harder to come by since then, with Raducanu struggling for both form and fitness after undergoing surgeries to both wrists and her left ankle in 2023.

However, after beating Anisimova in straight sets, Raducanu has now won four consecutive matches in a WTA main draw tournament for the first time since that US Open run.

This is not the first time that Raducanu has won four matches in a row overall, having done so at the Billie Jean King (BJK) Cup Qualifiers going into the Stuttgart Open last year.

Raducanu also won three matches at the BJK Cup Finals to finish her 2024 season, before winning two matches in a row at the Australian Open to kick-off her 2025 campaign.

Emma Raducanu makes British tennis history at the Miami Open

Not only has Raducanu matched a record of her own, but she has also managed to make history for British women’s tennis.

Jack Draper boosted British tennis at Indian Wells after winning the title there, and now Raducanu has managed to do something for the WTA side.

Since the introduction of WTA 1000 tournaments, Johanna Konta is the only other British player who has managed to reach a quarter-final.

Konta reached nine WTA 1000 level quarter-finals in her career, including two at the Miami Open, going all the way to win the title in 2017.

This is the first time that Raducanu has managed to reach the last-eight of a tournament of this calibre, having not won a single match at the Miami Open in her two prior appearances.

Raducanu will now play Jessica Pegula, the world number four American, as she looks to replicate Konta’s run to the title from eight years ago.
