Coco Gauff shared some kind words about Mirra Andreeva back in 2024.
The Russian is in the form of her life after winning successive WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells.
The 17-year-old is now at a career-high ranking of number six and she is showing no signs of slowing down.
Andreeva is making a similar impression during her early years on the WTA Tour much like Coco Gauff did, when she defeated Venus Williams at Wimbledon aged just 15 and won her first title just several months later.

What did Coco Gauff say about Mirra Andreeva in 2023?
Mirra Andreeva began to make waves on the WTA Tour in 2023, and she faced Gauff at that year’s French Open.
Andreeva was halfway to causing an upset before Gauff dominated the next two sets to win 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-1, before seducing a more convincing win against the teenager at Flushing Meadows.
Gauff beat Andreeva 6-3, 6-2 at the 2023 US Open, on the way to winning the first Grand Slam title of her career. While competing at the 2024 Australian Open, Gauff shared some kind words about Andreeva and tipped her for a bright future.
“Yeah, I played her twice, both in Grand Slams. The first time was on clay and that was a tough three-setter, and the second time was at the US Open this past year. I think she’s an incredible player,” Gauff said.
“I think that, you know, she’s going to have a great future ahead of her. I don’t know her personally that well. I practiced with her once. But from what I’ve gotten, she’s a really nice and really sweet girl.
“I have seen some of her pressers. She seems like she’s, like, soft-spoken. Whoever she’s playing, it’s going to be a tough match for them.”

Comparing Mirra Andreeva and Coco Gauff’s best results since the start of 2024
While Gauff experienced a great ending to 2024, Andreeva has enjoyed a wonderful start to 2025.
The American claimed her first title of 2024 in Auckland before reaching the Australian Open semi-finals for the first time.
Gauff did not win another title until the China Open in October, before ending 2024 by claiming the WTA Finals following an epic final against Qinwen Zheng.
The 21-year-old began 2025 by helping Team USA win the United Cup, but Gauff has struggled since.
Andreeva on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength. In 2024 she recorded her best result at a Grand Slam by reaching the French Open semi-finals, before winning her first title in Iasi.
After reaching the last 16 at the Australian Open in 2025, she has produced spectacular runs to the Dubai and Indian Wells titles, and Andreeva is also one of the top contenders for the Miami Open crown.
