Carlos Alcaraz was very vocal with his frustrations throughout his shock defeat to Sebastian Korda at the Miami Open.
Alcaraz beat Joao Fonseca in his first match at the Miami Open, which set up a meeting with 32nd seed Korda.
Korda had once beaten the Spaniard in 2022, but Alcaraz won their three most recent encounters.
However, it was Korda who was able to get the better of the world number one, with Alcaraz clearly not happy with his performance.

Korda beat Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, but it could have been an even more comfortable victory for him.
The American led in the second set 6-3, 5-3, before Alcaraz fought back to win five consecutive games.

Earlier on in the second set was when Alcaraz was his most vocal towards his team, as he claimed that he was destined for a straight sets defeat.
He said, “At most I can do a 6-3 6-4, 6-3 7-5… no more than that I can’t.”
Alcaraz was also heard saying, “I’m going home right now! I’m going home!”
It has been a dominant start to the season for Alcaraz, who had only lost one match in 2026 prior to his meeting with Korda in Miami, and he has not been familiar with the feeling of losing.
Things just seemed to be getting too much for Alcaraz, who was also heard expressing, “I can’t take it anymore, I can’t take it anymore. Today I can’t take it anymore.”

Carlos Alcaraz has a relatively poor recent record at the Miami Open
Alcaraz won the Miami Open title in 2022, which was actually his first ever tournament win at Masters 1000 level, but he has not been able to live up to this since then.
While he has still made appearances in both the semifinals and quarterfinals of the Miami Open since then, Alcaraz has appeared to struggle with the low-bouncing courts in Miami by his standards.
This was particularly highlighted at the 2025 tournament, where Alcaraz suffered a shock defeat to David Goffin in his only match at the Miami Open last year.
