The 2025 ATP Tour season is well underway as players compete for vital ranking points around the world.
Several top stars have been competing at the Mexican Open this week, in a tournament ravaged by illness.
Casper Ruud withdrew from Acapulco with stomach issues, as did Tommy Paul, while Holger Rune retired from his second-round match, after just three games.

Over in the Middle East, stars have been competing at the Dubai Tennis Championships, a tournament won by France’s Ugo Humbert in 2024.
Seven of the top eight seeds lost before the semi-finals, as fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas now looks favorite to clinch his first title of 2025.
There is another tournament well underway this week in South America, as one ATP star continued his poor run of form in Santiago, Chile.
Alejandro Tabilo loses seventh straight match as he exits his home Chile Open
World number 28 Alejandro Tabilo entered this week’s Chile Open as the number two seed, having lost in last year’s final.
He was unable to return to the final in 2025, as Tabilo lost to Argentina’s Federico Coria in a three-set battle, 6-7, [11-13], 6-4, 3-6.
His defeat was his seventh in a row on the ATP Tour, a streak that extends back to October 2024, at the Paris Masters event.

Speaking in his latest post-match press conference, Tabilo opened up about the troubles he’s faced recently.
“It’s a difficult moment, I feel like I played much better in this match, more clearly, I lost it because of details at important points,” he said.
“There are several things that have been affecting me outside of tennis, on a personal level.
“It has been an important cause, and I have been fighting with it, with people very close to me, I have been trying to move forward.”

The Chilean 27-year-old insisted he is confident that he can turn things around.
“I have to keep working, I’m sure I’ll turn it around, and I’m on the right path,” said Tabilo.
He’ll no doubt hope to soon rediscover the form that left one American tennis legend impressed in 2024.
John McEnroe admitted he was surprised by Alejandro Tabilo’s ‘game’ in 2024
Tabilo enjoyed the best year of his career in 2024, securing several impressive wins that saw him quickly pushed into the limelight.
At the Italian Open, the 27-year-old star produced the best win of his career, as Tabilo beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets on his way to a maiden Masters 1000 semi-final.
Tabilo was then picked as a member of Team World for the Laver Cup, as he became the first Chilean player to appear at the event.
He won one of his two matches at the 2024 Laver Cup as his side narrowly fell to an 11-13 defeat against their European counterparts.

During the tournament, Team World Captain John McEnroe gave his thoughts on Tabilo, admitting that he had surprised him.
“Alejandro Tabilo, he’s sort of a guy that’s come on the last couple of years,” said McEnroe.
“But he’s got game, I didn’t realise how good this guy was.”

Tabilo reached a career-high of 19th in the world last year, as he won his first two ATP titles in Auckland and Mallorca.
