Seven-time major champion John McEnroe is in the Team World hot-seat at the Laver Cup for the very last time.
McEnroe won’t miss the stress of the Laver Cup, with fellow legend Andre Agassi set to take over the captaincy at the 2025 Laver Cup.
For now, however, the former is looking to guide Team World to a third successive victory over Bjorn Borg’s Team Europe.
McEnroe wants to go out in style, although the competition also represents Borg’s last as Team Europe captain.
The two leaders both have very strong sides in Berlin, with the action already underway at the Uber Arena.
John McEnroe surprised by Alejandro Tabilo as the Laver Cup gets underway
American players dominate Team World, but McEnroe has also called upon South American duo Francisco Cerundolo and Alejandro Tabilo.
And the captain is particularly excited about the latter, having been pleasantly surprised about the Chilean world number 22.
“Alejandro Tabilo, he’s sort of a guy that’s come on the last couple of years, but he’s got game, I didn’t realise how good this guy was,” McEnroe told Tennis Channel.
Can John McEnroe go out in style at the Laver Cup?
It is, of course, a team event, but players must also prove themselves on an individual level as they look to clinch glory.
Pride and bragging rights are certainly at stake, with McEnroe undoubtedly desperate to get another win over nemesis Borg.
The former has three compatriots on his side to help him do that, with Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe all involved.

Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis completes his lineup, while Borg boasts five top-10 players in his Laver Cup group.
Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and Grigor Dimitrov are all included in Team Europe, along with world number 12 Stefanos Tsitsipas.
