Alexander Zverev appears to be at an important moment of his career following his disappointing Wimbledon.
Zverev was beaten in the first round of Wimbledon by Arthur Rinderknech, his earliest Grand Slam exit in six years.
However, what really got people talking was what the German said after his defeat, with Zverev admitting he was struggling to find joy both on and off the court.
The world number three now appears to be attempting to get himself in a better place, as Zverev was spotted training with Toni Nadal in Mallorca.

Toni Nadal explains what he thinks is stopping Alexander Zverev from winning majors
Since Zverev lost in the Australian Open final to Jannik Sinner he has struggled to find the same form and has won just one ATP 250 title this year.
Following his latest revelations, the uncle and former coach of Rafael Nadal, Toni, has spoken about what he thinks is preventing Zverev from winning a Grand Slam.
Speaking to Sport.de, Toni Nadal suggested that mentality was Zverev’s biggest obstacle and that he is now playing worse than he did when both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were competing.
“Zverev it’s a mental problem,” said Toni Nadal. “For example last year when he played against [Carlos] Alcaraz in the Roland Garros final, he won the third set and start the fourth. In this moment he knows he plays against Alcaraz, Alcaraz is a wonderful player. This is a moment when you have to put a lot of attention in these first games.
“In this moment Zverev played, in the first game, he was in troubles with his team, he started to talk, and within 10 minutes it was 4-0 or 4-1 to Alcaraz. This is what can happen. I don’t say this to be bad to Zverev, because I appreciate him, but for me has to change.
“When he changes he has everything. I think he played better before, I remember some matches against Rafael and Federer, he played very well.
“If he wants to win and have chances to win a Grand Slam he needs to change a little his mentality. He can win but to win is a thing about mentality. In Roland Garros why did he lose? Against Sinner at 40-0 he was not brave enough. It is not easy but I think he can win. He is the third player in the world, he can win. But it’s about working hard and working hard at what you are not good enough at.”
Zverev is often called the best player yet to win a Grand Slam and he will be hoping to rediscover some of his previous form heading into the US Open.
Alexander Zverev’s Grand Slam results this year
Zverev has reached three Grand Slam finals in his career, and has been within touching distance of winning that elusive major.
This includes being two sets to love up on Dominic Thiem at the 2020 US Open, and two sets to one up on Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros in 2024.
His third Grand Slam final was less closely contested, with Sinner beating Zverev in straight sets earlier this year.
| Grand Slam | Alexander Zverev’s result |
| Australian Open | Lost in the final to Jannik Sinner |
| Roland Garros | Lost in the quarterfinal to Novak Djokovic |
| Wimbledon | Lost in the first round to Arthur Rinderknech |
Zverev has called Roland Garros his best chance at a major title before, but this year he lost in the quarterfinals to Novak Djokovic.
After losing in the first round of Wimbledon, Zverev decided to withdraw from the ATP 250 event in Gstaad and is next scheduled to compete on the hard courts of Toronto.
