Tommy Paul tasted glory for the third time on the ATP Tour this season after winning the Stockholm Open.

Paul is battling with Taylor Fritz to be US number one, and he certainly helped his efforts by lifting the trophy in Sweden.

The American fourth seed overcame third seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 25 minutes for his fourth career title.

Paul currently occupies 12th place in the ATP Tour rankings, but more importantly has climbed one spot to 10th in the Race to Turin.

He can close the gap on eighth-placed Andrey Rublev further at the Vienna Open, which is already underway.

Paul therefore has very little time to celebrate his Stockholm Open success, where he secured his fourth top-10 win of the season.

His final victory also means he is the fourth player to win at least three tour-level titles in 2024, following in the footsteps of Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Berrettini, as per the ATP Tour website.

Keeping pace with heavyweights Sinner and Alcaraz is no mean feat, with the duo having dominated the ATP Tour this season.

The American can, therefore, be extremely proud of his efforts, having also won the titles at Queen’s and Dallas this year, while it also shows just how impressive Berrettini has been.

Paul has looked ahead to the 2025 Dallas Open after being confirmed for the event, which is set for February next year.

But next up on his agenda will be a first-time appearance at the ATP Finals, although closing the gap on Rublev will be tricky.

Alex de Minaur is between the American and the Russian in the standings, with Paul having just overtaken Dimitrov after their Stockholm final.
