Tommy Paul is relishing the chance to compete at the Dallas Open where he is the defending champion.

The 27-year-old won the first of his two titles this season in Texas, defeating compatriots Ben Shelton and Marcos Giron back-to-back on the way to lifting the title.

He has been announced as part of the field for next year’s tournament as the defending champion alongside Casper Ruud who’s also set to compete at the event.

But the upcoming edition of the Dallas Open will have a different look in 2025 when it gets underway on February 1, 2025.

What did Tommy Paul say about the 2025 Dallas Open?

From 2025 the Dallas Open has been upgraded to an event with 500 ranking points instead of the previous figure of 250.

It also has a new venue for the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, the headquarters and training facility of the NFL franchise, the Dallas Cowboys.

Following the announcement of Tommy Paul’s intentions to play the tournament, he is excited to defend his title in a new location with more ranking points at stake.

“The Dallas Open will always be special to me and I’m looking forward to defending my title from 2024,” the World number 13 said via ATP.com. “I’m excited for next year’s tournament and playing against some of the best players in the world at The Star in Frisco.”

Tournament Director Peter Lebedevs added: “Elevating the Dallas Open to a 500-level event will bring the best players in the world to North Texas,” he said.

“Casper Ruud and Tommy Paul are two of the premier players on tour and we look forward to adding more high-level talent to America’s newest ATP 500-level tournament.

“The 2025 Dallas Open will feature the event’s deepest field yet as players will be competing for the largest purse in tournament history while playing in one of the most impressive facilities in the world.”

What other title has Tommy Paul won in 2024?

Paul won the Queen’s title to add to his Dallas Open trophy, which marked the first time he has won multiple titles in a season.

He dropped just one set on the way to the title and this marked his first championship win away from hard courts.

He came through a mammoth second set tiebreak against Lorenzo Musetti in the final to claim a 6-1, 7-6(8) to claim one of the most prestigious titles on the ATP Tour.

“It means everything,” Paul said after winning. “I’m happy to get the win today. Going through the hallways here in the locker room and the names on the wall, it’s unbelievable. It was always my goal to put my name next to them.”
