Tomas Machac has exchanged messages with Carlos Alcaraz after knocking him out of the Shanghai Masters.

Machac felt an upset was possible against Alcaraz, and that is exactly what happened in their Shanghai Masters quarter-final.

Alcaraz eyed a potential semi-final with Jannik Sinner, but the Spanish star didn’t make it that far thanks to the brilliance of Machac.

The Czech 30th seed overcame the Spanish third seed 7-6(7-5), 7-5 to clinch his spot in the last four of the competition.

And it is world number one and top seed Sinner who now awaits Machac in the semi-finals of the tournament in China.
