Jannik Sinner is proving to be the dominant force in world tennis alongside Carlos Alcaraz at the moment.

The pair have shared the last eight Grand Slam titles between them, and right now, it’s not clear who else will stake a claim to start pinching some of the big titles away from them.

Sinner was sent a message by Tallon Griekspoor after being forced to withdraw from his last 32 match with cramp, and the Shanghai Masters is one event that he won’t be winning.

Griekspoor made a claim about the balls that were being used for his match with Sinner, but it was the temperature and the humidity that the Italian ultimately struggled with too much.

Not too many have been able to get one over him in recent years, however, with Griekspoor now joining an elite list of players to have emerged victorious against Sinner since 2023.

The only eight players to beat Jannik Sinner since 2023

It really is crazy to think that only eight different players have got the better of Sinner since the start of 2023, with Griekspoor the latest to add himself to the list.

The others are Carlos Alcaraz, who has beaten Sinner the most times since 2023, with seven wins coming from the Spaniard against the world number two.

In terms of the other six, Sinner has only lost to them once since 2023, with Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Alexander Bublik and Ben Shelton claiming victories.

It’s a remarkable run of form for Sinner really, with yesterday’s loss proving to be just his 14th since the start of 2023, with 136 wins being claimed.

Jannik Sinner record in 2025

Alcaraz has proved to be the nemesis of Sinner, really, with the world number one the only player to boast multiple wins over him in the last two years.

It would have been so good had they both been present in Shanghai and on a collision course to meet in yet another final in their career.

Sinner has won 43 matches in 2025 and suffered six defeats, with the Italian missing three months of action through suspension on the ATP Tour.

Sinner being forced out of this tournament might actually be a scary thing for his rivals, and if he can rest and recuperate quickly, there could yet be another tournament win before the year draws to a close.
