Tennis is nothing if not predictable, or at least it feels that way at the moment with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner starting to dominate.

Alcaraz lifted his second French Open title in succession on Sunday to take his career total of slams to five. Sinner sits on three having won the Australian Open back in January.

The kids really are alright if Alcaraz, 22 and Sinner, 23, are anything to go by, and the future of tennis appears to be in good hands.

Rod McNamee disagreed with Roger Federer on the French Open, and he believes tennis might be in for a bit of a rude awakening.

Alcaraz and Sinner are currently way ahead of anyone else on the circuit, and perhaps there is a sense that things are already becoming a little bit predictable in men’s tennis.

The most consecutive Grand Slams won by two players

It doesn’t feel as though Sinner and Alcaraz have been around that long, but already it feels like the Grand Slams are proving difficult for anyone else to muscle in on.

Some statistics have emerged that showcase just how dominant the two best players in world tennis are quickly becoming.

The last six Grand Slam tournaments have now been shared by Alcaraz and Sinner, with the former looking to defend his Wimbledon title later this month.

Although Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal had a dominant period some years ago, the emergence of Novak Djokovic kept the pair on their toes and kept the game healthy.

The game is now crying out for a Djokovic to step forward and take these two to task and try to compete for honours with the sensational duo.

Who could step up and rival Alcaraz and Sinner consistently

This really is the million-dollar question when it comes to men’s tennis right now.

Alexander Zverev is the world number three but he has been beaten in three Grand Slam finals and was comprehensively beaten by Djokovic at Roland Garros.

Further back, the likes of Djokovic himself remain on the tour, although his chances of regularly competing with these two now appear remote.

John McEnroe thinks Jack Draper will win many major titles, and he’s one for the future, with Brazilian player João Fonseca likely to be in the mix in the future.

The younger players and the guys in the top 10, however, need to get their acts together.

Alcaraz and Sinner showcased on Sunday that they’re not in tennis to be messing around, and the more this current run continues, the harder it will get for the chasing pack.
