One of tennis’ Grand Slam champions has yet to play a match in 2025, but has climbed up the world rankings.

The season is now in full swing and there have been plenty of interesting results that have taken place so far.

This has resulted in significant movement in the ATP Tour and WTA Tour rankings, as some players made a great start while others have struggled.

But there is one player in particular who has yet to play a match in 2025, but this has not had too much of an effect on her ranking.

Two-time Grand Slam champion enjoys rankings boost despite not playing in 2025

The WTA’s top 20 is a very competitive place as the world’s top players battle for their spot among the world’s elite.

But there is one player who is still ranked inside the top 20 that has yet to play a match for the entire season so far.

Barbora Krejčíková won the biggest title of her career in 2024 when she defeated Jasmine Paolini to win Wimbledon, her first Grand Slam title since the 2021 French Open.

This helped the Czech player enter the top 10 and it earned her a spot in the WTA Finals, where Krejčíková was the only player to beat eventual champion Coco Gauff.

But due to a back injury, Krejčíková has yet to play a match in 2025. Despite her lack of action this season, she moved up the WTA rankings from 16 to 15 this week.

When was Barbora Krejčíková’s last match?

Krejčíková has not played since November’s WTA Finals.

She was placed in a group with Gauff, Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula, though the latter was replaced by Daria Kasatkina after two matches after sustaining an injury.

Her back injury prevented her from competing at the Australian Open and the same issue forced Krejčíková to withdraw from the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open.

With the clay court season now underway, it is unknown when the former World number two will be back in action.
