At 22 years of age, Carlos Alcaraz is already being put in the ‘greatest of all time’ discussion by many.

Alcaraz’s Australian Open triumph saw him become the youngest player ever to complete the Career Grand Slam, smashing the record previously held by his legendary compatriot, Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard now has seven major titles to his name, as many as John McEnroe and Mats Wilander, and the count will almost certainly not stop there.

With 25 crowns overall, Alcaraz is well on his way to becoming the best player in history, however, there are five big titles he has yet to get his hands on.

1. The Canadian Open

It may seem strange that, despite his success during the North American hard-court swing over the years, Alcaraz’s best result at the Canadian Open is a quarterfinal finish.

He has only featured at the Masters 1000 tournament twice in his career, mainly due to its awkward placement in the busy summer schedule.

In his first appearance in 2022, Alcaraz was knocked out in the second round, and in 2023 he made it to the last eight, but he has not returned since.

2. Shanghai Masters

Like the Canadian Open, Alcaraz has only made two appearances at the Shanghai Masters, which came in 2023 and 2024.

He has only made it to the quarterfinals in Shanghai, a feat he managed in 2024 before losing to Tomas Machac.

Alcaraz was set to play at the competition last season, but he withdrew due to injury.

3. Paris Masters

The Paris Masters is the only other tournament in the Masters series that Alcaraz has not managed to win, despite making five appearances there.

He made his Paris debut in 2021, and has featured every year since then.

Alcaraz has struggled in the French capital in recent years, failing to make it past the third round since 2022.

4. ATP Finals

Alcaraz came close to winning the ATP Finals for the first time in 2025, but he was beaten by his rival, Jannik Sinner.

He has made three appearances at the year-end competition, having made his debut in the 2023 ATP season.

While many tennis legends have won the ATP Finals, Alcaraz’s countryman, Nadal, also never won it.

5. Olympics

Perhaps the hardest achievement Alcaraz has yet to manage is winning an Olympic gold medal.

He came agonisingly close to emerging victorious at the Paris Games in 2024, but was denied by Novak Djokovic in the final.

Alcaraz’s next chance will come at the 2028 games in Los Angeles.
