Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are back on the ATP Tour this week, with both players competing at the Qatar Open in Doha.

Alcaraz and Sinner could meet in the Doha final, but there is a long way to go before then for both players at the ATP 500 tournament.

Sinner has, however, already won his opening match, defeating Tomas Machac 6-1, 6-4 to set up a clash with Alexei Popyrin.

Meanwhile, top seed Alcaraz starts out against Arthur Rinderknech at the Qatar Open, his first event since winning the Australian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner each earn $1.2m to play in Doha

Alcaraz and Sinner continue their fight for silverware and ranking points in Doha, but they are also being paid an extremely handsome appearance fee.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two ATP superstars are each earning $1.2 million for playing at the Qatar Open.

That figure is well above the Qatar Open prize money, with the winner set to earn $529,945 and the runner-up to receive $285,095.

It’s a simply stunning amount of money for Alcaraz and Sinner, who currently have career earnings of $62,803,831 and $57,467,301 respectively.

In the 2026 season alone, the Spaniard has earned $2,771,785 in prize money, with the Italian on $834,875.

Those huge figures have arrived from just one ATP tournament each, with Alcaraz having stormed to the Australian Open title.

The world number one is on a seven-match winning streak to start the year, while his fierce rival has five wins and one loss.

Novak Djokovic beat Sinner in the semifinals of the Australian Open, with the latter now certain to be desperate for a title in Doha this week.

The second seed needed one hour and 10 minutes to beat Machac, producing a ruthless serving display that included seven aces and 86% of his service points won.

Alcaraz will be hoping for similar levels to start his tournament off, with Valentin Royer awaiting the winner of his match with Rinderknech in the round of 16.
