Stan Wawrinka has just received a wildcard for the main draw at Roland Garros, which he will play for the final time in his career.
ATP legend Wawrinka is retiring from professional tennis at the end of the season, hanging up his racket at the age of 41.
Wawrinka has enjoyed a phenomenal career, with the Swiss icon claiming 16 titles and climbing as high as number three in the world rankings.
Three Grand Slam titles are among his stunning success, including the French Open, for which his wildcard this year has been welcomed by tennis fans everywhere.

Many tennis fans welcome Stan Wawrinka Roland Garros wildcard
Reacting to Roland Garros handing Wawrinka a wildcard for this year’s event, one fan wrote on X: “Best decision. Former champ. Three-time major winner. He has earned his spot.”
A second concurred: “My respect for giving Stan the Man this. He deserves it,” with another agreeing: “Stan is a former French Open champion, that’s an automatic wildcard. He deserves it.”
Meanwhile, others referenced that unforgettable 2015 final victory over Novak Djokovic as they praised the decision.
“Bro played alien tennis that year, only way to stop the GOAT from winning his first Roland Garros, all the respect to Stan the Man,” one said.
Another tennis fan agreed: “One of the great finals ever on Chatrier was 2015. What a courageous effort that day.”

Gael Monfils rightfully given French Open wildcard with Stan Wawrinka
Wawrinka is one of eight men who have just received wildcards for Roland Garros, which gets underway in Paris later this month.
And finding himself in the exact same position as the Swiss icon is French legend Gael Monfils, who has also received a wildcard in his last season before retiring.
It is a fantastic decision from organizers to give both legendary figures the status in their last-ever French Open, where they could definitely cause an upset or two.
At the other end of their ATP careers, Nishesh Basavareddy, Arthur Gea and Moise Kouame have also received wildcards, alongside Titouan Droguet, Hugo Gaston and Adam Walton.
And on the WTA Tour, Paris wildcards have been given to Clara Burel, Ksenia Efremova, Fiona Ferro, Leolia Jeanjean, Emerson Jones, Sarah Rakotomanga, Alice Tubello and Akasha Urhobo.
