Emma Raducanu has another coaching decision to make…
After splitting from Francisco Roig earlier this year, Raducanu started working with LTA coach Alexis Canter.
And, at Indian Wells, Raducanu called upon the help of Mark Petchey.
Emma Raducanu should make Andy Murray her next coach
Do you think this is a possibility?
But when Petchey leaves again, should she bring in another Brit, Andy Murray, to replace him? TalkingPoints fans don’t think so.
Tennis fans don’t think Emma Raducanu should hire Andy Murray
Three-time Grand Slam champion Murray made his first foray into coaching last year with Novak Djokovic.
He was largely unsuccessful, failing to guide Djokovic to the Australian Open title, and was replaced during the clay-court season.

Murray hasn’t shown any desire to make an immediate return to coaching, but remains an option for players like Raducanu.
As the only two British players to have won a Grand Slam singles title this Century, Raducanu and Murray are often compared.
But could the 38-year-old be the missing piece of the puzzle Raducanu needs to get to the top?
We asked our readers on TalkingPoints, and they weren’t convinced.
“No, not Andy Murray. He has no experience to coach. Also, Emma Raducanu doesn’t like the Murrays, especially Judy,” one fan said.
“Absolutely not, she’s a disgrace. Andy is too good for her. She has absolutely no respect for her coach,” said another.
The belief that Murray and Raducanu don’t get on stems from Wimbledon two years ago.

Raducanu was scheduled to play mixed doubles with Murray at his final Wimbledon tournament.
But she withdrew at the last minute, prompting Judy Murray to react on social media.
“Astonishing,” she said.
Despite later clarifying that her message was directed towards Wimbledon organisers and their scheduling decisions, not Raducanu, fans took the comment as an insult and ran with it.
However, one fan on TalkingPoints understood the context and believes Raducanu and Murray could be the perfect fit.
“He got over that, accepted her apology, and said he probably would have done the same for his singles matches. So, yes,” they said.
Comments in support of a Raducanu/Murray partnership were few and far between, though.
“I’m not sure Andy has the coaching skills… I think working with Djokovic, he was advising tactics… Is that what Emma needs?” one fan asked.

“Bring in Ivan Lendl to help Emma get back to her best,” another fan suggested.
Raducanu has a decision to make, likely after the conclusion of the ‘Sunshine Double’ WTA 1000 events.
She does, however, seem content to play without a full-time coach, which begs the question of why Murray would even bother.
For now, Raducanu must focus on the task at hand, Indian Wells.
What can Emma Raducanu achieve at Indian Wells?
Raducanu received a bye into round two, where she will play Russia’s Anastasia Zakharova.
Ranked 62 places above her opponent, Raducanu should make her way through to round three, where she would meet either Anna Blinkova or Amanda Anisimova.
Who will win Indian Wells in 2026?
Vote now!
It’s there that her Indian Wells campaign is likely to end.
Anisimova has established herself as one of the best players in women’s tennis and won two WTA 1000 events last year.
She does, however, hold a losing head-to-head record against Raducanu.
Emma Raducanu and Amanda Anisimova’s head-to-head record
| Match | Winner | Loser | Score |
| 2025 Canadian Open – 3R | Amanda Anisimova | Emma Raducanu | 6-2, 6-1 |
| 2025 Miami Open – 4R | Emma Raducanu | Amanda Anisimova | 6-1, 6-3 |
| 2025 Australian Open – 2R | Emma Raducanu | Amanda Anisimova | 6-3, 7-5 |
If Raducanu were to extend that winning head-to-head record and reach the last 16, she could leave California very pleased with her efforts.
She won’t want to get ahead of herself, though, and will first focus on Rakhimova.
Raducanu will play Rakhimova in the second round on Friday, March 6, on Court four.
