The Dubai Tennis Championships keep having issues at this year’s tournament and now the tennis fans at home are being impacted.

There have been many withdrawals from the Dubai Tennis Championships this year, including both Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek pulling out of the tournament for scheduling reasons.

This problem has only gotten worse as the tournament has gone on, but that is not the only issue that the event has right now.

Tennis fans watching on television have expressed their frustrations at the tournament, as they cannot actually see some of the matches!

Tennis fans cannot see the ball at the Dubai Tennis Championships

Tennis fans have taken to social media to express their frustrations at the Dubai Tennis Championships after trying to watch the tournament on the television.

It has been a real issue for fans trying to watch the event during the day in Dubai, as it has been very difficult to track the ball.

One fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Don’t you just love not being able to actually see the tennis ball in Dubai?”

Another added, “Can anyone watching the Dubai open tennis see the ball? I am relying on line calls to know what’s going on.”

One other social media user wrote, “It’s so hard to see the ball in Dubai during the afternoon matches help.”

Seeing the ball is a fundamental part of watching a tennis match, and is understandably having a real impact on viewers’ experience of a tournament that had already been impacted by the number of withdrawals.

The other tennis tournament that has a similar issue to Dubai

While the Dubai Tennis Championships are currently coming under fire for the issue relating to the visibility of the tennis ball, they are not the only tournament that has had this problem.

Tennis fans also criticised the Cincinnati Open for this same issue last year, which was also an issue during the day.

This was also pointed out on social media, as the reason behind the issue was explained.

One wrote, “Dubai courts and Cincy courts in a can’t see the ball during day session challenge.”

Another tennis fan explained, “Dubai and Cincinnati Courts have a common problem. Sun angle, time of day & court surface reflectivity, combine to make tracking a tennis ball on tv, a near impossibility.

“As sun moves from midday north to west, it gets easier to follow the ball flight. Later in day, no problems.”

Who do you think will win the 2026 Dubai Tennis Championships?

Thankfully for viewers the lack of visibility is not an issue in the evening, giving tennis fans the opportunity to watch some of the sport they love without having to squint to see the ball.

This feels particularly important, as the ever popular Alexandra Eala has been scheduled into the night session for back-to-back matches.
