The Cincinnati Open is quickly approaching its latter stages, with the semifinals set to take place across both tours.

So far, the biggest story of the tournament has been world number 136 Terence Atmane, who, after reaching the main draw through qualifying, has taken the tennis world by storm.

In one of the biggest upsets of the season, Atmane defeated fourth seed Taylor Fritz before knocking out Holger Rune to advance to the final four, where he will face Jannik Sinner.

On the women’s side, things are heating up after Elena Rybakina earned a statement victory by knocking out the defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, blowing the draw wide open.

By most accounts, the event has been a success, however, tennis fans watching from home have been unhappy with their experience of the 2025 Cincinnati Open.

Tennis fans complain about Cincinnati Open broadcasting

Many fans have taken to social media to complain about struggles to see the balls on TV, including this X user who asked: “How can anyone actually see the tennis ball during matches in Cincinnati?”

One fan replied: “So glad it’s not just me. It was terrible today watching Rybakina [against]Sabalenka. Haven’t noticed it before today, though. My eyes are still recovering from 90 minutes of squinting.”

This fan noticed: “During the day, it is worse. I couldn’t track the ball,” while another claimed: “[It] was very unwatchable to the point I stopped watching.”

Finally, an X user explained: “It’s legitimately one of the most embarrassing broadcasts I’ve ever seen in sports. Since 2019, it’s been like this! It would literally get fixed by simply switching the camera to the opposite side (where it was prior to 2019). Absolute idiots and amateurs at @CincyTennis.”

The confirmed semifinals at the 2025 Cincinnati Open

The men’s semifinals will get underway at the Cincinnati Open first, with Atmane’s clash against Sinner the opening match on Centre Court.

Following that will be Carlos Alcaraz‘s return to the final four in Cincinnati, where he’ll go toe-to-toe with world number three Alexander Zverev.

On Sunday, Jasmine Paolini will look to build on her victory over Coco Gauff when she faces Veronika Kudermetova.

In the other half of the draw, Rybakina will have to find a way past a red-hot Iga Swiatek in order to reach the final.
