Taylor Fritz has been given a boost following his quarterfinal exit from the Delray Beach Open.
Fritz reached the Dallas Open final last week, losing to Ben Shelton despite having three championship points.
Although he finished as runner-up at an ATP 500 tournament, Fritz actually fell down the world rankings.
Fritz has been criticised for playing through injury recently, but he still decided to compete at the ATP 250 tournament in Delray Beach.
This led to him losing in the quarterfinals to his compatriot Tommy Paul, but Fritz is now set to be boosted in the ATP rankings.

Taylor Fritz climbs ATP rankings despite quarterfinal loss in Delray Beach
There have been three ATP tournaments taking place over this past week in Doha, Rio de Janeiro and Delray Beach, but only two players will switch places when the rankings update.
Qatar Open champion Carlos Alcaraz has cemented his place as the world number one after continuing his unbeaten start to the year.
Although Jannik Sinner suffered a shock defeat to Jakub Mensik in Doha, he is still comfortably in his position as world number two, 5,120 points ahead of Novak Djokovic.
Fritz fell down one spot last week, but he will now be back up to world number seven, despite losing to Paul in the Delray Beach Open quarterfinals.
What is preventing Taylor Fritz from winning a Grand Slam?
That is due to Felix Auger-Aliassime dropping 150 ranking points after choosing not to compete at the Qatar Open this year.
Auger-Aliassime will also be defending 330 points from reaching the final at the Dubai Tennis Championships last year, but he is returning to the tournament as the top seed.
| ATP Rankings | Ranking Points |
| 1. Carlos Alcaraz | 13,350 |
| 2. Jannik Sinner | 10,400 |
| 3. Novak Djokovic | 5,280 |
| 4. Alexander Zverev | 4,555 |
| 5. Lorenzo Musetti | 4,405 |
| 6. Alex de Minaur | 4,235 |
| 7. Taylor Fritz (+1) | 4,220 |
| 8. Felix Auger-Aliassime (-1) | 4,080 |
| 9. Ben Shelton | 4,050 |
| 10. Alexander Bublik | 3,405 |
What will happen to Tommy Paul’s ranking if he wins the Delray Beach Open?
While Fritz was unable to win the title at the Delray Beach Open this year, he did lose to one of the finalists in Paul.
Paul will be competing for his first title since October 2024 against another American player in Sebastian Korda.
This could be a big week for Paul, who struggled with injury last year and has recently fallen outside of the top 20 for the first time since 2023 after reaching a career-high of world number eight in 2025.
Paul is guaranteed to be the world number 22 at the end of this week, regardless of the final result, but a title would move him to within 130 points of a return to the top 20.
Which American man has the best chance of winning a Grand Slam in 2026?
While for former world number 15 Korda, he has already climbed nine places in the live rankings and would return to the top 40 if he wins his third ATP title.
The final of the Delray Beach Open will take place at 4pm local time on Sunday, February 22.
