Taylor Fritz has reflected on his defeat in the Dallas Open final to Ben Shelton.
Fritz overcame ongoing injuries to reach the final of the Dallas Open for the first time in his career.
The former US Open finalist even had three championship points in the final, but Fritz was unable to beat Shelton.
After the final, Fritz was surprised by how he felt after losing to Shelton and he has now put some of those feelings into words on social media.

Fritz claimed that his defeat to Shelton did not hurt as much as he had expected in his post-match press conference, but it appears that it has still impacted the American.
What is preventing Taylor Fritz from winning a Grand Slam?
In his first Instagram post since losing in the Dallas Open final, Fritz admitted that his loss to Shelton ‘hurts’, but he also appeared to be pleased with the direction his game is heading in after a difficult start to the year in Australia.
He wrote, “Thank you Dallas (love heart emoji). “Level is there and getting better every match. Yesterday hurts, but happy with the tennis all week.
“Congrats to @benshelton for an unreal fight and a well-deserved title. On to the next.”
Shelton actually left a comment in response to this post, simply just responding with the prayer hands emoji.
After losing in the final to Shelton, Fritz also fell down the ATP rankings in the latest update.

Why Taylor Fritz may be hurt by Ben Shelton loss other than having match points
As well as having three championship point opportunities, this loss may hurt Fritz even more due to his recent title record.
Fritz has won 10 singles titles in his career, but eight of those are at ATP 250 level.
The last time that Fritz won an ATP title above 250 level was in 2022, when he won the Japan Open.
Fritz won the biggest title of his career at Indian Wells that same year, and he has been to a Grand Slam final since then at the US Open.

The world number eight will now have another opportunity to bounce straight back, as he is scheduled to compete at the Delray Beach Open this week.
Fritz is a two-time former champion in Delray Beach, but even if he wins the title it will be another tournament win at ATP 250 level.
