Jannik Sinner has left former ATP player Steve Johnson stunned by something he has done this year.

Sinner beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Paris Masters final to win his fifth title of the 2025 season.

Not only did the Italian win his first ATP 1000 title this year, but Sinner also returned to world number one as a result.

When reacting to Sinner’s victory at the Paris Masters, former world number 21 Johnson has revealed the statistic that he just cannot believe.

Steve Johnson says Jannik Sinner has done something ‘insane’ this year

Sinner has now won 26 consecutive matches on indoor hard courts, and former Wimbledon semifinalist John Isner has labelled him ‘virtually unbeatable’ on the surface when speaking on the Nothing Major podcast.

Isner also spoke about his only match against Sinner on an indoor hard court in 2021 when he suffered a heavy defeat.

“The guy is just virtually unbeatable indoors,” said Isner. “I played him in Davis Cup in Turin years ago. He beat me 2 and 0 indoors.

“When he is locked in, indoors, no conditions, no wind, no sun. He is good on anything, clearly. But when that ball is bouncing exactly where he knows it’s going to bounce indoors, it is goodnight nurse.”

Johnson then joined the conversation and spoke about the ‘insane’ fact that only three players have been able to beat Sinner all season.

“He lost to three people all season,” said Johnson. “That is insane to me. Like that is insane! I know we had a three month hiatus but he lost to Carlos [Alcaraz], [Tallon] Griekspoor, he retired, and [Alexander] Bublik. Can you guys imagine going an entire season and just losing to three people? It’s crazy!”

Carlos Alcaraz has beaten Sinner in the finals of Roland Garros, the US Open, the Italian Open and the Cincinnati Open all this year.

While the only other two defeats that the world number one has suffered all year came when Alexander Bublik beat Sinner in Halle, and Tallon Griekspoor won via retirement at the recent Shanghai Masters.

When did Jannik Sinner last lose on an indoor hard court?

Sinner may have lost six matches in 2025, but he has not lost on an indoor hard court for nearly two years.

The last time that Sinner lost on an indoor hard court came at the ATP Finals in 2023, when he lost in the final to Novak Djokovic.

Since losing to Djokovic in the Turin final two years ago, Sinner has beaten the 24-time Grand Slam champion in all five of their matches.

Sinner will look to continue his winning record on indoor hard courts at this year’s ATP Finals, where Djokovic is also expected to compete.

That will be the final tournament of his season, after Sinner received backlash for withdrawing from the Davis Cup Finals.
