Greg Rusedski discusses Serena Williams’ potential return

In an episode of ‘Off Court with Greg‘, Rusedski said: “I’m still shocked by it. Any time a great champion wants to come back, it’s great for our sport, especially with what Serena accomplished.

“She looks in great shape. The question is, how’s the tennis game, and how’s the movement?

“You’ve got to look at the WTA Tour at the moment, Mboko. She’s playing great tennis right now. Rybakina winning the Australian Open, and Sabalenka. They’re playing some fierce tennis right now.

“So, with the comeback, it’ll be interesting if she comes in singles. She’s only going to come back if she feels like she can beat them.

“That is the question mark for me. I’m sure she’s going to come back and at least play doubles, but I would love to see what happens in singles, and everybody is intrigued.

“So singles, fascinating. Reality, I think, possibly doubles.”

Serena Williams’ last tournament campaign at the 2022 US Open

Williams played in both singles and doubles in the last tournament campaign of her career at the 2022 US Open.

She kicked off her singles run with a straight-sets win over Danka Kovinic, followed by a big win against second seed Anett Kontaveit.

Then, Williams played one last doubles match with her sister, Venus, against the duo of Linda Noskova and Lucie Hradecka, but the US legends lost 7-6, 6-4.

Serena’s last match was in the third round of singles against Ajla Tomljanovic, where she managed to force a decisive third set, but was ultimately beaten.
