Jannik Sinner will enter Wimbledon as the strong favorite, just as he was at Roland Garros.
But Sinner suffered an early Roland Garros exit, falling to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in just the second round of the tournament.
The Italian stormed to a two-set lead in Paris, but ATP number one Sinner fell victim to the extreme heat in the French capital before losing in five sets.
Sinner isn’t playing a Wimbledon warm-up event, instead choosing to prepare for the next Grand Slam in training, although he will take on the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic exhibition at The Hurlingham Club.
His chances of winning the grass-court Grand Slam have now been discussed by Patrick Mouratoglou, who is a former coach of WTA legend Serena Williams.
How concerned are you about Jannik Sinner’s physical issues going forward in his career?
Patrick Mouratoglou predicts how Jannik Sinner will perform at Wimbledon
Sharing his favorites to win Wimbledon, Mouratoglou said in a video on his Instagram: “For 10 years [Novak] Djokovic hasn’t lost in Wimbledon against somebody else than Alcaraz or Sinner.
“Except maybe 2017, but he retired during the match. That’s crazy, no?
“Alcaraz is out, Sinner is the huge favorite for Wimbledon. I think the level he is playing at the moment is way above the rest.
“There is a little extra for Novak, probably grass is his best surface. You don’t play as much long rallies as on clay. You have more opportunities to close the rallies earlier.
“And I would say now there is a little extra also for Sascha [Zverev]. He won Roland Garros.
“I don’t think that what happened at Roland Garros is going to affect Jannik Sinner’s performance or Jannik Sinner’s confidence.
“I mean look at what he’s done since January, it’s a joke how many matches he won in a row. All those Masters 1000. So he will be the huge favorite.
“To be the defending champion is always an extra pressure, but I think that Jannik is really used to that kind of pressure.
“He is the huge favorite, and I think he’s in the best position to win the title.”
Which player has the most to gain from Carlos Alcaraz’s Wimbledon withdrawal?
Jannik Sinner can be very confident heading into Wimbledon
While Sinner did suffer major disappointment at Roland Garros, he has enjoyed a simply phenomenal 2026 season.
The Italian is currently world number one and has claimed five titles, all of which were at ATP Masters 1000 events.
He’ll enter Wimbledon with a hugely impressive 37-3 record, which along with his 2025 title should give him huge confidence.
Sinner claimed his first title at the All England Club last summer, defeating fierce rival Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
Of course, further boosting his mood will be the absence of the Spaniard, with Alcaraz ruled out of Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.
