Victoria Mboko has continued the growing hype around her after beating Coco Gauff at the Canadian Open.
Mboko has been backed to achieve great things after an impressive rise already this year, climbing from outside the top 300 to world number 85.
The Canadian teenager will continue that rise after the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal, where Mboko has beaten Gauff to reach the quarterfinals.
Now the former coach of Serena Williams has made a big ranking prediction for Mboko.

Rick Macci makes big ranking prediction for Victoria Mboko
Rick Macci has coached both Serena and Venus Williams, as well as Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick and Jennifer Capriati in his career.
The now 70-year-old is not afraid to make a big prediction, with Macci calling an American a future top 10 player.
Now, Macci has given his say on Mboko, after watching the 18-year-old beat Gauff in the fourth round of the Canadian Open.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Macci has suggested that he thinks Mboko will become a top five player in the near future.
“She is the real deal,” said Macci. “Has the juice off the ground and loves to pound. Produces high level quality on the run and at 18 her career has just begun.
“Top 5 is down the street and it is now no Secret Victoria is going to be tougher to defeat. Canada going LOCO FOR MBOKO.”
How high will Victoria Mboko be ranked after the Canadian Open?
Mboko has already climbed 248 places in the rankings so far this year, and is set to jump at least another 30 to a career-high ranking after her run at the Canadian Open.
The Canadian teenager can improve that even further if she continues winning in Montreal, where there are still generous ranking points on offer.
| Stage of the Canadian Open | Victoria Mboko’s ranking point total | Where it would currently place her in the live rankings |
| Before the tournament | 836 | No.85 (Ranking before the tournament) |
| Quarterfinal | 1050 | No.55 |
| Semifinal | 1225 | No.47 |
| Final | 1485 | No.33 |
| Champion | 1835 | No.24 |
Mboko will look to earn a further 175 ranking points in the Canadian Open quarterfinals, where she will play Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.
If Mboko is to make it all the way into the final, she could even be in contention for a seeded ranking at the US Open this year.
