She’s now a day away from completing her six months in the anti-doping pool, which will make her eligible to compete again on the WTA Tour.
But her latest remarks imply she might not be coming out of retirement after all.
Serena Williams tells Maria Sharapova she won’t play Wimbledon
On Instagram, Williams shared the following post.
“I’m getting ready for a Serena summer,” she said.
Her friend and former rival, Maria Sharapova, was quick to reply.
“Wimbledon?” she asked.
Unfortunately for fans of Williams who are looking forward to her return, she shut down Sharapova’s suggestion.
“Lol, no love hahaha,” she said.
Williams doesn’t seem interested in returning to Wimbledon this year.
That’s not to say a comeback is off the cards, though.
While a Wimbledon return was the dream for many, most fans agree she is more likely to return in New York, at the US Open.

The working theory is that Williams will play doubles with her sister, Venus Williams, at Flushing Meadows this fall.
There has been no confirmation yet, as the 44-year-old continues to keep her fans guessing.
