Seb Korda has progressed to his second Miami Open quarter-final, but appears to be struggling with a recurring issue.
Korda has been backed to achieve big things in the future, as a former junior Australian Open champion.
This American is looking to continue his families sporting success, with Korda’s father a former major winner, while both of his sisters are top golfers.
After Korda beat Gael Monfils, he has given himself an opportunity to achieve a career first, but continues to face an ongoing battle with his fitness.

Seb Korda admits issue ahead of Miami Open quarter-final
Korda underwent elbow surgery last year, but has admitted that it was actually his wrist that was bothering him at the Miami Open.
The 24-year-old told press after the match that his wrist was ‘pretty painful’ and he was waiting to see the physio.
“It’s [the wrist] pretty painful right now, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow,” said Korda. “Will do a lot of work with my physio now, we’ll see how it is tomorrow.
“I got pretty negative [after the injury]. Just kind of had to refocus and get positive again. It’s great [to be into his fourth Masters 1000 quarter-final]. I haven’t played a lot of tournaments this year, hopefully I can play some good tennis and see where it takes me.”
Korda went onto explained that he has been having these issues for nearly three years, but uses certain exercises to try and minimize the problem.
“Just trying to loosen it up. I was feeling some wrist pain and trying things that had worked for me in the past,” explained Korda. “Just to try and get it moving a bit, maybe it a bit locked.
“I have had wrist issues since October of [20]22, so it’s something I have been dealing with for a long time.”
While Korda has methods to deal with these pains, he has since made a decision that has cast further doubt over his Miami Open future.
Seb Korda withdraws from Miami Open doubles event due to wrist problem
As well as his run to the singles quarter-final, Korda was also playing in the doubles event alongside Australian Jordan Thompson.
However, the scheduled quarter-final match against second seeds Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara will no longer be going ahead after Korda and Thompson pulled out.
Korda’s wrist injury has been cited as the reason for their withdrawal, causing concern for his upcoming singles quarter-final against Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has never lost a Miami Open quarter-final before and also won his only previous meeting against Korda, that came in the final of the Adelaide International in 2023.
As he looks to be physically fit in time, Korda will look to end Djokovic’s Miami record when they play in the night session match on Stadium Court on Wednesday March 26.
