Novak Djokovic is once again in the semifinal of Wimbledon, making the last four on a record-breaking 14 occasions.

Djokovic lauded Flavio Cobolli after his efforts against the seven-time winner, but once again, the legendary figure came through.

Jannik Sinner stands in the way of Djokovic making a final for the seventh straight year and the 38-year-old is playing well enough to win.

Sinner thrashed Djokovic at the French Open and as a result, retribution might be in the sights of the number six seed as he takes on the man sitting at the summit of the world rankings.

Sam Querrey and John Isner share whether Novak Djokovic can beat Jannik Sinner

The Nothing Major podcast is a staple in the diet of every podcast-listening tennis fan these days and on the latest episode, the talk turned towards this semi-final.

Djokovic won’t be the favourite going into the match, despite winning at Wimbledon on seven occasions.

Querrey and Isner have had a conversation over whether or not Djokovic can win the match and it’s gone as follows:

Querrey: “I’m going to speak right now as if Novak is 100% and fine. I look at this exactly as I, I might have said this on the last one, exactly as I looked at the Olympics. That was like his last chance to get a gold medal. I think this is his last chance and best opportunity to win one more Slam, he knows that.

“He’s just going to exude every ounce of energy he can for the last two matches. Look, I don’t know if he’s going to win or not, but I’m kind of cheering for him, I want him to.

“He’s got a tough mountain to climb, most likely going to have to beat Sinner and Alcaraz, but if someone can do it, it’s this man.”

Isner: “I think he can do it. Like again, if he’s healthy, if all things are equal out there, I like Novak to win this match.

“I don’t think he will be the favourite going into it, but I mean all his eggs are in this Wimbledon basket right now.”

Querrey: “Yes they are.”

Isner: “So this is his focus, he knows that this is his chance, a really good chance for 25. He wouldn’t want to have it any other way either. I think he’s glad that he’s playing number one in the world Sinner, right now in these semifinals.”

Djokovic can roll back the years and beat Sinner

It’s hard not to agree with Querrey here when he says he thinks this is Djokovic’s final chance to win another Wimbledon crown.

As the years go on without a Grand Slam, Djokovic will know that it will be harder for him to keep competing with the likes of Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Naturally, he’s still a quality player, but the two best players in the world right now are different entities entirely in comparison to anything he’s come up against so far.

Djokovic would be a popular winner of this year’s tournament and now it remains to be seen whether he can get over the line against Sinner and then possibly Alcaraz.
