From the hundreds of players who entered the French Open draw a fortnight ago, just two remain.
They are ranked number one and two in the world and share seven Grand Slam titles between them.
Both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have never lost a major final in their young careers so far.
But one of them will collect the runner’s up shield following the conclusion of Sunday’s French Open final, which is set to be a classic.
Sam Querrey and Jack Sock both think Jannik Sinner will beat Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open
For the first time since the 2013 US Open final, the top two players in the ATP rankings will compete in a Grand Slam final.
Alcaraz and Sinner have faced one another 11 times, but they have yet to face each other in a championship match at a major.
That will change when they compete for the French Open crown on Sunday. Both players have been impressive throughout their respective campaigns, but when previewing the final Jack Sock and Sam Querrey both believe Sinner will come out on top.
“I am going to Sinner. He has been too good this week,” Querrey said. “Outside of the match today, the previous five matches, it took everyone 20+ minutes to get a game. He was up 5-0 then 6-0, 2-0. I think he is going to be too dialled in.
“Carlos has been his kind of Kyprotonite over the last year. It has been the one thing that he cannot overcome. I am going with Sinner, maybe that is an unpopular take but the eye test watching Sinner the last 13 days is like you can’t beat him. I don’t even think Alcaraz can beat him.”
Sock added: “I am going to double down on that. That’s my gut feeling. I am going to take Sinner as well. I am going back to a clip on social media where Sinner was told you are going to be the favourite at Roland Garros.
“I think maybe it was in Rome or Madrid but it was like you are definitely the outright favourite for the French Open on clay. I think that fuels him, weirdly. I think Sinner is going to go out and he is going to get it done, I really do.
“Watching him from the couch on the TV I don’t know what you do against him. What do you do against Jannik Sinner? That’s why I don’t play tennis any more.”
What is on the line for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the French Open final?
Court Philippe Chatrier will be packed to the rafters to see Alcaraz and Sinner battle for the French Open title. This is set to be the first Grand Slam final played between two men born in the 2000s.
Alcaraz is aiming to successfully defend his title and become the first man to achieve that feat at the tournament since Rafael Nadal in 2020.
Sinner is playing for his third successive major and his first away from his favoured hard courts.
The French Open is just his second tournament since the Australian Open due to his three-month ban and he has been exceptional form.
But it remains to be seen if he will have enough to defeat Alcaraz for the first time since 2023 and become the French Open champion for the first time.
