The Roland Garros 2024 is well and truly underway now, with fans having been treated to a blockbuster opening day yesterday.
We had five-set thrillers, a few minor upsets, comeback victories and cutthroat brilliance, and today promises to be much of the same.
Despite the rain scuppering much of the play yesterday, the French Open remains firmly on schedule, and there are plenty of enticing matches to get through as we seek to progress through this two-week tournament.
Key storylines to follow on day two of Roland Garros 2024
Given the stellar showing we got on day one of the Roland Garros, there is huge anticipation that stars such as Iga Świątek, Jannik Sinner, Ons Jabeur and Rafael Nadal can live up to the billing.
The latter in particular is unsurprising set to dominate the headlines, as he heads to Philippe-Chatrier in what could well be his final foray at the French Open.
He faces Alexander Zverev, who is coming into this tournament fresh off the back of his Rome Open title.
Elsewhere, the world number two will clash with a troublesome Chris Eubanks who has had his struggles on clay, whilst Brits Cam Norrie and Harriet Dart kickstart their campaign with tricky fixtures against Paul Kotov and Linda Noskova respectively.
As for the US players, Danielle Collins headlines an all-American first-round clash with Caroline Dolehide, whilst Tommy Paul faces Pedro Cachin.
Coco Gauff will be hoping to go one step further than she did in 2022, and she faces Julia Avdeeva in her first round clash.
Later on in the day, Elina Svitoina will meet Karolina Pliskova in the battle of the former top fives. This promises to be a real spectacle.
And finally, Świątek will be seeking to start her defence of last year’s French Open title and make it her fourth triumph in Paris, with Jeanjean the unfortunate victim.

Light rain and a gentle breeze is expected throughout the day, and whilst a short spell might not prove consequential, should it persist all day we could see many matches curtailed.
