Rennae Stubbs has made a bold prediction regarding Rafael Nadal’s chances at the Olympic Games.

The tennis legend has expressed his desire to make a final appearance at the prestigious sporting event, especially as it will take place at his beloved Roland Garros.

He has skipped Wimbledon due to the quick change in surface from grass back to the clay for the Olympics and is spending the extra time training on the dirt.

The 38-year-old has always been an excellent performer for his country and now he is determined to add to two previous Olympic gold medals from Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016.

How does Rennae Stubbs think Rafael Nadal will do at the 2024 Olympics?

Nadal will certainly fancy his chances at the Olympics given he has won a staggering 14 French Open titles at Roland Garros.

Bu given his lack of matchplay since the start of the 2023 season, it will be a huge challenge for the 22-time Grand Slam champion to succeed at the Paris Games.

But Stubbs believes Nadal can roll back the years and produce some vintage performances to claim some more hardware for his country.

“I think Rafa is going to surprise you at the Olympics,” she said on the French Connection Podcast. “Best of three sets at Roland Garros, him losing the way he did to Zverev in the first round where he played very well.

“I think he feels like that guy got to the final and I played him tough. Don’t be surprised if he is playing for a medal, that’s all I’m saying!”

Will Rafael Nadal play before the Paris Olympics?

Nadal has not played since he suffered a straight sets defeat to Alexander Zverev in the first round of the French Open in May.

He has been confirmed as part of Spain’s Olympic team, but he plans on playing before heading to Paris. Earlier this month it was announced that Nadal will be travelling to Sweden to play in Nordea’s Bastad Open.

The 37-year-old, who claimed the trophy there in 2005 for the eighth title of his career, is pleased to be heading back to the tournament.

“I am happy to be able to play in Båstad this summer where I won one of my first ATP titles,” Nadal’s statement read. “I have great memories from there and am really looking forward to coming back and playing in front of the Swedish fans.”
