Carlos Alcaraz has stormed into yet another Wimbledon semifinal, where the Spaniard will take on Taylor Fritz.

Alcaraz defeated Cam Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in their Wimbledon quarterfinal, with the latter having been the last British singles representative at the tournament.

The ATP number two now turns his focus to American Fritz, who is into the semifinals after knocking out Karen Khachanov.

Alcaraz has been tipped to win Wimbledon, a competition the Spaniard has won in each of the last two years.

He defeated Novak Djokovic in both finals, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion also still in the tournament this year.

But second seed Alcaraz will be fully focused on fifth seed Fritz, with the Spaniard leading their head-to-head 2-0.

He did, however, speak of Norrie right after their match, saying on court: “I am just really happy. To be able to play another semifinal here in Wimbledon is super special.

“It’s something I wanted to do at the beginning of the week. Try to go as far as I can and give myself a chance to play a semifinal, it’s going to be great.

“I am really happy with the level I played today against a very difficult player like Cam. He’s an amazing player and guy.

“I am pretty sure there is nobody who works harder than him and I’m really happy to see him fighting for great things, so happy to see him playing these kind of matches and happy to qualify.”

And discussing Fritz, Alcaraz said: “He is playing great. The grass season for him has been really successful so far.

“Two titles, semifinal at Wimbledon. So I have to be ready for that battle. I have played a few times against him. He is really tough to play against.

“I will try and play the same level as today. Just focus and right now I want to enjoy and live this moment because it’s not easy to play a semifinal at Wimbledon.”

Both Fritz and Alcaraz have been enjoying superb seasons so far, boasting a combined seven ATP Tour titles.

The Spaniard dominates that combination with five titles, while Fritz has triumphed on the grass at Eastbourne and Stuttgart.

Alcaraz in comparison clinched his only grass success at Queen’s, but he does enter their meeting with phenomenal momentum behind him.

After beating Norrie, he is now tied for the sixth-longest win streak of the century, joining Juan Martin del Potro on 23.

He does, of course, also have his Wimbledon history alone to bank on, with his titles representing two of his five Grand Slam trophies.

American star Fritz meanwhile has come closest at the US Open, losing the final in New York to Jannik Sinner last year.
