Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz return to Wimbledon this month, but there will be no appearance from Nick Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is out of action for the grass season, with the Australian having reached the Wimbledon final back in 2022.

He lost to Novak Djokovic at the All England Club that year, while the Serbian went on to lose the next two finals to Alcaraz.

Djokovic has already shown his Wimbledon intentions, as he chases an eighth title at the tournament and a 25th career Grand Slam title.

Alcaraz meanwhile has five Grand Slam titles to his name, with ATP Tour number one Sinner currently on three.

The pair only just played out the French Open final, where the Spaniard edged out the Italian in a five-set thriller.

After taking on the role last year, Kyrgios isn’t doing Wimbledon commentary this year, but he has now shared his verdict on two of the favourites.

Picking his favourite between Sinner and Alcaraz to win the tournament, Kyrgios said on talkSPORT: “I would say Alcaraz would be the favourite to win Wimbledon.

“I saw a stat today that he has won four tournaments on grass and he has only lost three matches on the surface ever. I think he would be the favourite.

“What I love about Alcaraz is that he has a bit of both. He has a bit of [Rafael] Nadal, [Roger] Federer and Novak all blended into one. He entertains the crowd, he has the physicality, he has the smile and he enjoys it.”

There is every chance that Alcaraz and Sinner will go head-to-head once more at the latest Grand Slam event in the calendar.

They are both in superb form at this moment in time, with that particularly true of the Spaniard, who just won the title at Queen’s.

Sinner fell in the round of 16 at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, but is still certain to be a huge threat at Wimbledon.

Another meeting between the two rivals would represent the 13th of their careers, with Alcaraz currently boasting an 8-4 record.

He also has history on his side, having won the competition in each of the last two seasons, while Sinner has only ever reached the semi-finals.

Moreover, Alcaraz’s double Wimbledon success represents two of his four career titles on grass, with Sinner only posting one at Halle in 2024.
