Novak Djokovic could be at risk of lowering his chances at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Djokovic has not played since Indian Wells, where he was beaten in the fourth round by Jack Draper.
The Serbian was entered into both the Miami Open and the Monte Carlo Masters, but Djokovic subsequently pulled out of both these tournaments.
Djokovic’s priority at this stage in his career is the Grand Slam tournaments, but Greg Rusedski has warned him that he could be lowering his chances at upcoming majors.

Greg Rusedski explains why Novak Djokovic’s ranking does still matter
Rusedski previously claimed that Wimbledon is Djokovic’s best chance of winning a 25th major title, and he has reiterated this belief on his Off Court with Greg Rusedski podcast.
Are you more or less confident that Novak Djokovic can win his 25th Grand Slam now?
Djokovic is currently the world number four behind Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, and Rusedski believes that he needs to remain in the top four seeds to give himself a chance at Grand Slams like Wimbledon.
“I think either Madrid or Rome will be his first week, week off and then get ready to Roland Garros,” said Rusedski. “It also depends, if the weather is like this then it suits Djokovic.
“You’ve got to remember, it’s not about points, it’s about where he is seeded. So he does need points to be in the top four. Because to win a major these days you’ve got to go through Alcaraz, Sinner and then imagine if he drops out of the top four, he might have to play Zverev, he might have to play somebody else earlier in the draw.
“So for him the important thing is to keep that top four ranking, to give himself a shot at Wimbledon. So there’s so many question marks, never discount a great champion, especially on grass, Roland Garros step too far in my opinion because of the physicality needed.”

Could Novak Djokovic fall down the rankings before Wimbledon?
Djokovic currently has a total of 4,720 ranking points, which places him in fourth in the ATP rankings ahead of Lorenzo Musetti.
The Serbian has 1,070 ranking points to defend until the cut-off for Wimbledon seeding, while Musetti has 2,250 points to defend.
While Musetti may struggle to overtake Djokovic, players like Felix Auger-Aliassime have a big opportunity to jump up the rankings and overtake him.
| ATP Rankings | Current ranking point total | Ranking points defending until Wimbledon seeding (22/06/26) | Confirmed ranking points for Wimbledon seeding |
| 1. Carlos Alcaraz | 13,590 | 4,830 | 8,760 |
| 2. Jannik Sinner | 12,400 | 2,000 | 10,400 |

| 4. Novak Djokovic | 4,720 | 1,070 | 3,650 |
| 5. Lorenzo Musetti | 4,265 | 2,250 | 2,015 |

| 9. Taylor Fritz | 3,870 | 420 | 3,450 |
| 10. Daniil Medvedev | 3,610 | 790 | 2,820 |
Djokovic has the fourth highest amount of ranking points confirmed for Wimbledon seeding, but he only has a small advantage over the likes of Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur.
The next tournament on Djokovic’s schedule is the Madrid Open, but his participation could be in doubt after making only one appearance in the last four years at the event.
