Novak Djokovic will be looking to make history in 2026 by winning an elusive 25th Grand Slam singles title.
Djokovic is considered by many as the greatest tennis player of all time, having won more Grand Slam singles titles than any other player in the Open Era.
However, it has been over two years since his last major victory, which came when Djokovic won the 2023 US Open.
Djokovic has won the most Australian Open titles in Open Era history, but Greg Rusedski believes another Grand Slam tournament may be his best shot at winning a 25th major.

Greg Rusedski backs Wimbledon as Novak Djokovic’s best chance to win a 25th Grand Slam
Djokovic has struggled against both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the past couple of years, something which former US Open finalist Rusedski believes will continue in 2026.
Despite this, Rusedski has claimed that Wimbledon will be Djokovic’s best chance at winning a record 25th Grand Slam.
“The problem he has is Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the problem everyone has on tour,” Rusedski said on the Off Court with Greg podcast. “I think for Novak, if he is going to win a 25th major, it’s most likely going to be Wimbledon.
“I still think he believes that he can win a major, but for him, the key is by the time he gets to the semis meeting either Carlos or Jannik, he has to save as much energy as humanly possible. Or has got to hope one of them drops out of the draw, and doesn’t have to beat them back-to-back. I think he can beat one of them on any given day, and that is the big question.
“It’s a big ask, but don’t ever discount a great champion, he is willing to try new things, willing to keep pushing. I have nothing but respect. For him, the ultimate dream would be to win number 25, but even if he doesn’t, for me, he’s still the G.O.A.T. Great to have him in the game, and may he continue for as long as he wants.”

There are concerns for the Serbian ahead of this year’s Australian Open, with Djokovic withdrawing from the Adelaide International after admitting he is ‘not physically ready’.
This means that Djokovic’s first tournament of the 2026 season will be the Australian Open, where he will be the fourth seed when the tournament gets underway on Sunday, January 18.
