Novak Djokovic will be completely devastated after losing another Wimbledon final to new rival Carlos Alcaraz.

The hugely talented pair met at the same stage at the All England Club in 2023, with the Spaniard coming out on top.

The five-set victory represented his first Wimbledon glory, with Alcaraz now successfully defending his title.

Seven-time champion Djokovic was simply blown away by the 21-year-old, who won 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(7-4) on Centre Court.

But the Serbian wasn’t himself, with former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli spotting a ‘really weird’ lack of expressions from Djokovic.

Will Novak Djokovic play at Wimbledon next year?

The 24-time Grand Slam winner will now try and dust himself down for the Olympics and the US Open later this summer, but he has also provided an update on his future SW19 goals.

When asked whether he wants to play Wimbledon again in his final press conference, Djokovic said: “Yeah, let’s keep it going because I still keep going.

“I still have intention to play the Olympic Games and fight for a medal for my country on a completely different surface. Going back to a place where I got injured some weeks ago, so let’s see how I’ll feel physically and mentally.

“Hopefully I can find the right tennis because I am going to need all I have and more to go to the final of the Olympics.

“As far as coming back here, I would love to. I don’t have anything else in my path right now that this is my last Wimbledon.

“I don’t have any limitations in my mind, I want to keep going and play for as long as I feel like I can play at this high level.”

Novak Djokovic’s wait for an eighth Wimbledon title continues

Djokovic remarkably recovered in time to not only play at Wimbledon but reach the final after his knee surgery last month.

The issue forced the 37-year-old to withdraw from the French Open, but the veteran passed his fitness test just in time for the grass-court event.

Given the issue, he can be very proud of reaching the last two, with Djokovic having reached a Grand Slam final for the 16th season in his career, more than any other player in the Open Era.

But Roger Federer’s eight Wimbledon titles will still feature heavily on his mind, with the Serbian now needing to wait another year to match the tally.

He does, however, sit atop the all-time Grand Slam titles list with 24, two ahead of Rafael Nadal and four ahead of Federer.
