Novak Djokovic enjoyed a superb run at Wimbledon, right up until his painful final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz.

The players were taking part in a rematch of the 2023 final, where the Spaniard beat the Serbian after five sets.

This time around was much different, however, with Alcaraz beating Djokovic in straight sets to successfully defend his title.

The 21-year-old was in stunning form right from the very start, not long after Alcaraz and Djokovic had shared a conversation heading out onto Centre Court.

He wasted no time in proving his ability to all of those watching on at the All England Club, winning the first set 6-2 after just 41 minutes.

Marion Bartoli spots ‘really weird’ Novak Djokovic issue in Wimbledon final

It was at that moment that former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli noticed Djokovic’s uncharacteristic behaviour on the court.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, she said: “It’s really weird to see Novak not showing any expressions, whether it’s anger or…

“It’s just weird because there are shots he wouldn’t usually be missing in the final of a Grand Slam.”

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic struggles vs Carlos Alcaraz

The problems didn’t stop there for Djokovic, with Alcaraz recording another 6-2 win in the second set, this time after just 34 minutes.

But the seven-time champion did finally release some emotions after going 2-1 up in the third set, with Djokovic letting out a huge roar.

His delight would, however, be short-lived, with Alcaraz battling all the way to clinch the third set 7-6(7-4).

Bartoli’s fellow commentator Nick Kyrgios also spotted another very uncommon problem with the 24-time Grand Slam champion, saying on BBC TV: “It’s completely uncharacteristic from Djokovic. He never, ever gives you a free point on your second serve.”

The messages of congratulations have unsurprisingly gone the way of the Spaniard since his win, with WTA world number one Iga Swiatek messaging Alcaraz and women’s champion Barbora Krejcikova.
