Nick Kyrgios did not hold back when responding to claims about some comments he made about Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

The Australian has developed a reputation for being outspoken and making some controversial comments on various issues.

This week he spoke on Sinner and Alcaraz, the two best young players in the world at present, who swept the Grand Slams in 2024.

Following his comments the former World number 13 has been criticised, but he was ready for any backlash.

Nick Kyrgios hits back at those who criticised him for comments on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Nick Kyrgios comments centred around Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

He claimed the duo do not have the same presence within the sport as the ‘Big 3’ of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic given they are still in the early stages of their careers.

But some fans did not take too kindly to Kyrgios’ comments with an X user saying: “The way he’s just saying anything at this point,” while another added: “At least they have Grand Slams, that’s more than you can say.”

But Kyrgios was very frank in response, as he criticised the media for posting certain parts of his quote and not providing the entire context.

“No context here at all, the media is in a bad spot, that’s for sure,” Kyrgios said via his account on social media platform X.

“Compared to Novak , Federer, Nadal they are yet to have the aura that they have. They will for sure get there but realistically they are kids doing insane things. Do better. Potatoes.”

Nick Kyrgios wants to play Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open

Kyrgios will make his competitive return to tennis at the Brisbane International where he will play signals and also doubles alongside Novak Djokovic.

He will then compete at the Australian Open for the first time since 2022, and he wants to face none other than Sinner.

The Australian has made some controversial comments about Italian since he tested positive for banned substance clostebol in March, though the news was not made public until August.

Kyrgios says both he and Sinner do not like each other and he wants to test himself against the World number one in front of his home fans.

“I feel like why we love sport is because you have to have contrast in personalities,” he said. “If I draw Sinner in the Australian Open third round everyone will watch because of the contrasting personalities, we don’t like each other and I think it’s healthy in sport.”
