Nick Kyrgios is one of the biggest characters in tennis, and his presence on the court has been sorely missed.
In typical Kyrgios fashion, he’s going to cause a stir next month when he takes on Aryna Sabalenka in the first Battle of the Sexes match for a number of years.
Steve Johnson will refuse to watch that match with Sabalenka, and he’s not the only one to temper the excitement of some other people keen to view the match-up.
It does feel as though Kyrgios is back on the mend, however, after some rotten luck with injury.
The Aussie is still trying to get himself right, but Kyrgios has already hinted he might play the Australian Open, and now he’s put his name down for another event that is on the horizon.

Nick Kyrgios signs up for World Tennis League 2025
This tournament normally takes place in the UAE, but for one year only, India will take centre stage and host some top players for the exhibition.
The WTL is a mixed-gender team competition and takes place for three days from 17th December.
The 2025 event will see an extremely strong field with Kyrgios joining Daniil Medvedev, Elena Rybakina, Gael Monfils, Paula Badosa and Marta Kostyuk, among others.
Kyrgios reached the Wimbledon final in 2022 before losing to Novak Djokovic, and since that point, injuries have taken over his body.
As a result, it will be fascinating to see what shape he’s in during these exhibition events and perhaps following that point he will look to make a decision on his participation in 2026.

What Kyrgios said about Medvedev in August
Kyrgios and Medvedev are both entertaining characters, and both wear their heart on their sleeve on a tennis court.
During the US Open, Kyrgios watched on as Medvedev lost in the first round to Benjamin Bonzi.
It ended a poor run of form in the Grand Slam events for the Russian with just one win coming from four events in 2025.
Kyrgios served a short and sweet message to Medvedev after his shock defeat, which simply read: “Medvedev is the best.”
Now, the pair could be on the court again very soon, and given it’s been so long since he played, it will be fascinating to see what shape Kyrgios is in.
