Novak Djokovic is on a mission to try and level up with Roger Federer with eight Wimbledon titles.

His career should be winding down at 37 but he’s barely been given a test en route to another Wimbledon semi-final.

Djokovic now faces the world number 25, Lorenzo Musetti, for a place in the final against either Carlos Alcaraz or Daniil Medvedev.

Before his semi-final, he will be trying to get his injured knee properly right and it would appear that Nick Kyrgios is going to be on hand to help him.

The pair played against each other in the 2022 final with Djokovic claiming title number seven and now the pair are good friends.

The Serbian player has come under fire for his outburst after beating Holger Rune in his round of 16 match.

Djokovic had an almighty stroke of luck yesterday when Alex de Minaur announced that he would be forfeiting the quarter-final with a hip problem.

Now, he’s got to get a bit of match practice into his legs before tomorrow’s semi-final and Kyrgios is going to help.

The Australian performer told the BBC: “I will hopefully hit with him on Thursday and get a bit of insight into how he’s feeling.

“We’re going to hit tomorrow and play some points and see how his knee is feeling. But I think right now he looks to be favourite in my eyes.

“Not a match, we will play some points. I’m a hitting partner now, so he will tell me where to stand and what to do, but to get a bit of insight how he’s feeling but right now after that match against Holger Rune, he is playing and moving as best as I’ve seen.”

Djokovic on course for another Wimbledon crown

The only player who can probably stop Djokovic now is the man who beat him in last year’s final, Carlos Alcaraz.

He has a tough match against Daniil Medvedev to come through first, however, and he can’t think about facing the Serb again yet.

It has to be said that Djokovic has had a ridiculously straight-forward run to the semi-final – and now faces the world number 25 in the last four.

Despite his knee surgery, Djokovic has looked impressive when he’s been in action and it’d be hard to bet against him winning another title from here.
