Nick Kyrgios is planning to return to the matchcourt in the very near future.

Kyrgios last competed at the Miami Open, where he won his first ATP singles match in over two years.

However, the Australian has suffered another injury setback since then, causing Kyrgios to withdraw from Wimbledon and Roland Garros.

After Kyrgios revealed that he had been training with a WTA player, he has now entered an upcoming tournament in both singles and doubles.

Nick Kyrgios set to partner Gael Monfils at Washington Open

Kyrgios previously announced that he would play the Washington Open in singles, and has now also received a wildcard for the doubles event.

The former Wimbledon finalist will now compete alongside Gael Monfils in a blockbuster doubles team at the ATP 500 tournament.

Kyrgios and Monfils have played each other twice in singles before, as well as a doubles match against one another at the Canadian Open in 2015, but this will be their first time on the same side of the court.

They are not the only eye-catching team in the lineup for the tournament in the American capital this year.

Also teaming up at the Washington Open are the all-American duo of Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe.

This will be the third time that Shelton and Tiafoe have played doubles together, having partnered up for Team World at the Laver Cup in both 2023 and 2024.

Nick Kyrgios’ most successful doubles partnerships

Kyrgios has played doubles with Novak Djokovic and many others in his career, but there are two partners in particular that he has found the most success with.

Those two partners are Jack Sock and Thanasi Kokkinakis, who Kyrgios actually played with earlier this year at the Australian Open.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis won their only Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2022, but were forced to retire in the first round this year as they were both struggling physically.

The last doubles title that Kyrgios actually won was at the upcoming Washington Open alongside Sock.

Kyrgios will be hoping that he can reunite with the title in Washington D.C. once again with Monfils, with the tournament getting underway on Monday, July 21.
