Nick Kyrgios has become a bit of a forgotten man in the world of tennis as fans wait for his next outing on a tennis court.

Kyrgios ruled himself out of Wimbledon as he struggles with the wrist injury that robbed him of years of his career.

The Australian player reached the Wimbledon final in 2022 and despite being a set up on Novak Djokovic, couldn’t get over the line.

Kyrgios didn’t play at the French Open recently either, but now he has announced exactly when he plans to get back on the court this year.

Nick Kyrgios announces when he will return to tennis

It would appear that Kyrgios is feeling fit and ready to return to tennis and has picked a tournament before the US Open to try things out.

He’s announced on social media that he will return to the Mubadala Citi DC Open.

Kyrgios said on Instagram: “Hey guys, I cannot wait to be returning this summer to DC, it’s one of my favourite tournaments, I love the fans, I love the energy and as a two-time winner I never felt more comfortable at any other event. I can’t wait to see you all.”

This tournament gets underway on the 19th July not long after Wimbledon wraps up and lasts for a week.

It’s an ATP 500 event and Kyrgios should get ample chance to test out his injury before the US Open gets underway.

He’s won this event twice and that will definitely give him a huge confidence boost given that he will want to do well on his comeback.

Kyrgios won the 2019 final against Daniil Medvedev and then beat Japan star Yoshihito Nishioka in 2022 to win this particular tournament.

Hopefully, Kyrgios can stay fit and get back to making waves on the tour properly in the very near future.
