Nick Kyrgios is never too far away from any tennis debates, particularly when the Australian is sidelined with injury.

He has been absent for quite some time, but recently updated fans with an update explaining that he is nearing a return to full fitness.

But the current spare time has allowed him to watch the French Open, which is currently on day five, with the tournament having been disrupted by heavy rainfall.

Plenty of twists and turns have already taken place, but one assured performer has been Aryna Sabalenka.

The former world number one is into the third round at Roland Garros, having defeated Erika Andreeva and Moyuka Uchijima in rounds one and two respectively.

Nick Kyrgios rages at Aryna Sabalenka statistic

An interesting statistic has emerged from that opening round win in Paris, with Sabalenka registering an average forehand speed of 125 km/h.

It is higher than Jannik Sinner’s total of 122 km/h from his round one match, but Kyrgios has immediately refuted the comparison.

“Literally means zero,” he wrote on X. “Shot placement, court position, men hit more spin, more variety. Although Sabalenka is a very powerful player.”

Can Aryna Sabalenka go all the way at the French Open?

Sabalenka is undoubtedly in with a great chance of clinching another grand slam, having made a strong start at Roland Garros.

She boasts two major titles in her career so far, twice winning the Australian Open, with back-to-back wins in 2023 and 2024.

But after those hard surface wins, the Belarusian world number two is now back on clay, where world number one Iga Swiatek thrives.

The Pole is also into the third round in Paris, with fans drawing comparisons between her and Rafael Nadal after a stunning comeback win over Naomi Osaka in the second round.
