The joy was etched all over the face of Nick Kyrgios as he finally secured a win back on the ATP Tour.
It’s been a long road to this point for the Australian performer.
Kyrgios missed two years of action and the wrist injury he suffered was so serious that it threatened his chance of ever playing tennis ever again.
Kyrgios was declared fit to play at the Miami Open and he was looking to get that first win since making his return against Mackenzie McDonald.
The American won the first set 6-3 but Kyrgios dug into his reserve of experience and won the next two sets 6-3, 6-4 to reach the round of 64.
It’s such a shame that the player is struggling these days as on his day, he’s proven that he can mix it with the big boys on the ATP Tour.
Nick Kyrgios reacts after seeing footage of match vs Roger Federer
Kyrgios recently picked his favourite match and that was one classic that played against Federer in Madrid in 2015 – but action of another has now come to light.
In 2017, Kyrgios came up against Federer at the Miami Open. The Swiss performer would eventually win the title that year but not before a stern test from the Australian in the semi-final.
A gruelling match which took over three hours to complete saw all three sets won courtesy of a tie-break, with Federer seeing out the match in the end but now without a real scare.
With the footage doing the rounds on social media, Kyrgios has naturally reacted to the videos, posting two messages with the captains, ‘Crazy times’ and ‘Ridiculous tennis’.

Right now, Kyrgios is striving to play as many matches as possible, get more minutes into his wrist and see what he can become for the rest of the year.
The Aussie is entering tournaments on a protected ranking and he will be hoping to enjoy a pain-free year and just enjoy being back on a tennis court once more.
Kyrgios had a poor record against Federer – yet given his status in the game that is nothing really to be ashamed of.

The 29-year-old only managed one win against the 20-time Grand Slam champion and ironically that came during the pair’s first meeting in that classic in Madrid in 2015.
This 2017 affair is one that will live long in the memory though and based on the comments from Kyrgios it appears he remembers it well too
