Nick Kyrgios is set to make a return to tennis next month ahead of his home Australian Open.
Australia’s biggest tennis star has been out of action for almost two years but is set to make his return to the ATP Tour next month.
Kyrgios will compete at the Brisbane International, a warm-up tournament for the Australian Open, in a field that includes Novak Djokovic, Grigor Dimitrov, and Frances Tiafoe.
The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent years, as Kyrgios was told he likely would never play again, by his surgeon.
During his time away from the court, Kyrgios has spent time commentating, as he gave his thoughts on his fellow tennis stars.
Never afraid to make his opinions heard, Kyrgios has now revealed his thoughts on the four Grand Slam tournaments.
Nick Kyrgios leaves Sam Querrey shocked after saying he is ‘not a fan’ of Wimbledon
Speaking on the Nothing Major podcast, Kyrgios, Jack Sock, and Sam Querrey, discussed which Grand Slam tournament they liked the least.
“That slam sucked,” said Sock.
“The Aussie Open sucked, it’s the worst of the four.”
Former Australian number one Kyrgios, unsurprisingly disagreed, as he revealed which Major he isn’t the biggest fan of.
“Dude, I am sorry but Wimbledon as an event is not even that good,” he said.
“I don’t really like the set-up and the cafe.
“[The] Aussie Open is unreal.”

Querrey couldn’t believe what he was hearing: “What are you talking about? Wimbledon is on another level.”
Kyrgios backed up his comments, and said what his favorite Slam is.
“US Open is my favourite,” he said.
“I love the venue, the food court is insane, I love that.
“Wimbledon is insane, I just don’t like the – I don’t know – I just prefer the US Open.
“It’s so simple, locker room, go upstairs, food.
“Wimbledon, just not a fan of it man.”

Querrey thought he knew why Kyrgios wasn’t the biggest fan of Wimbledon, which Kyrgios agreed with.
“Wimbledon is pretty stuffy, Nick [Kyrgios] is like anti-stuffy,” he said.
“Maybe that’s it, culturally you don’t mix with Wimbledon.”
“No, I don’t,” said Kyrgios.
“I just feel weird there.
“Why are you looking at the screen like this Jack [Sock]?
“Okay, can we just say French Open is the worst.”

Sock wasn’t happy with that solution, as he reiterated his original point.
“No, Australia is the worst,” he said.
Has Nick Kyrgios performed better at Wimbledon or the Australian Open?
Kyrgios has now made it clear which Grand Slam tournaments he does and doesn’t like, but at which Major has he performed the best at so far in his career?
Kyrgios reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, losing out to Djokovic, his greatest Slam performance to date, but that’s not to say he hasn’t achieved some strong results elsewhere.
| Tournament | Best result | Win % | Last played in |
| Australian Open | QF – 2015 | 65 | 2022 |
| French Open | 3R – 2015, 2016 | 50 | 2017 |
| Wimbledon | F – 2022 | 71 | 2022 |
| US Open | QF – 2022 | 57 | 2022 |
Despite his claims that he ‘isn’t a fan’ of Wimbledon, he has certainly performed better at SW19 than any other Grand Slam tournament.
Winning over 70% of his matches is highly impressive, and not something that can be ignored.
It’s not just his most recent performance that deserves recognition, as his run to the quarter-finals in 2014 was breathtaking, especially when he took down Rafael Nadal in the fourth round.
On the other hand, his indifference towards the French Open seems fair, considering he has won just half of his matches, and hasn’t competed at Roland Garros in seven years.
He’ll be hoping to improve on his career-best quarter-final appearance at the Australian Open next month, as he looks to make headlines on his return to the sport.
The 2025 Australian Open featuring Kyrgios is set to begin on January 12.
