Nick Kyrgios may have mixed feelings about having returned to the ATP Tour so close to the Australian Open.
Kyrgios wowed fans at the Brisbane International, where he played in singles and also in doubles alongside Novak Djokovic.
The Australian and Serbian made it to the second round in Brisbane, with Kyrgios losing to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in round one of the singles.
Kyrgios played three matches in three days, coming up against very tricky opposition, including huge server and ATP rising star Mpetshi Perricard.
There was also a doubles clash against top seeds Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus, which really challenged the wrist of Kyrgios.

Nick Kyrgios shares worrying wrist update ahead of Australian Open
The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up needed surgery on his wrist in September 2023, with Kyrgios now sharing an update on the injury ahead of the Australian Open.
Having been asked how it was on an Instagram story Q&A, he replied: “Honestly not feeling the best at the moment – have had to manage it the last couple days and will get scans to make sure structurally all ok”.
What is Nick Kyrgios’s best finish at the Australian Open?
The worrying update comes immediately before the Australian Open, which is now already underway with qualifying.
Main draw action then gets underway at Melbourne Park on 12 January, the second successive year of a Sunday main draw start.
Kyrgios and indeed many fans will be desperate for the Australian to be involved, in what is potentially his final appearance at the tournament.
And given his injury problems in recent times, it may even be a Grand Slam farewell for the former ATP number 13.

Hopefully he can make a full recovery in time for his opener, with Kyrgios again playing singles and doubles in Melbourne.
He and Thanasi Kokkinakis are reuniting, having won doubles at the 2022 Australian Open, with a quarter-final run in 2015 his best finish in singles.
