Nick Kyrgios is closing in on a return to the court, with the controversial figure set to play at the 2025 Australian Open.

Kyrgios has been training on the court ahead of his Australian Open return, having been sidelined with various injuries in recent years.

The Australian last played competitively at the 2023 Stuttgart Open, with knee and wrist issues keeping Kyrgios out of action since then.

But a highly-anticipated return on home soil is now imminent, with Kyrgios set to combine his singles appearance with a doubles venture alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Before that, however, the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up looks set for an intriguing doubles pairing with Novak Djokovic.

It continues a very surprising period for the 24-time Grand Slam champion, with Djokovic having recently hired Andy Murray to be his coach.

The tennis legends will not link up at the Brisbane International, but Murray is expected to coach Djokovic at the Australian Open.

The latter is a record 10-time winner of the major tournament, and will be using the Brisbane International to fine-tune his game ahead of Melbourne.
