Bernard Tomic has attracted interest for all the wrong reasons after losing the Fairfield Challenger final.
Tomic suffered a shock 39-minute defeat in his final clash with Learner Tien, with the latter winning 6-0, 6-1.
American teenager Tien was the top seed at the tournament in Connecticut, with Tomic the seventh seed.
The Australian was flying high in the competition, enjoying one of his best tournament runs in recent years.
But he was brought crashing back down to earth by Tien, having only just picked up a fine win of his own against compatriot Tristan Schoolkate in the semi-finals.

Bernard Tomic sets another unwanted tennis record
As per Bastien Fachan, it represents the quickest final loss in ATP Challenger history, and intriguingly comes 10 years after Tomic suffered the quickest loss in ATP Tour history.
Remarkably, that 28-minute defeat had an identical scoreline, with the Australian losing out to Jarkko Nieminen at the ATP Masters 1000 Miami in March 2014.
Nick Kyrgios can’t help but laugh at Bernard Tomic record
Among those reacting to the unwanted records set by Tomic was his compatriot Nick Kyrgios, who simply posted a crying laughing emoji on X.
Tennis coach Brad Gilbert meanwhile commented on X: “Oouch award and today was finals of Fairfield Challenger.”
Poor Tomic will likely have to live with the records for some time, although he should instead be commended for reaching the Fairfield Challenger final.
But fellow Australian Kyrgios, who is seemingly closing in on a return to tennis, can only see the funny side.
Kyrgios plans to return at the end of the year, having last played competitively at the Stuttgart Open last summer.
The Australian ace has been as busy as ever on social media lately amid his tennis absence, with Kyrgios reacting to Rafael Nadal’s retirement announcement.
