Mirra Andreeva continued her strong start to the 2025 French Open with a straight-sets win over Ashlyn Krueger 6-3, 6-4.

Andreeva won her first match of this year’s tournament against Cristina Bucsa and has now sealed her fifth Grand Slam victory of the season against the American.

The 18-year-old has three career titles to her name already and is in search of a maiden Grand Slam crown in Paris.

Her first pursuit of a major this season ended in the fourth round of the Australian Open, where Andreeva faced Aryna Sabalenka.

Continuing a remarkable first three years to her career, the world number six has achieved a feat at Roland Garros that no woman has managed in just under 20 years.

Mirra Andreeva completes a tennis achievement no player has managed in 19 years

With her triumph over Krueger, Andreeva becomes the youngest player in 19 years to tally 20 Grand Slam women’s singles match wins at 18 years and 26 days old.

She follows Nicole Vaidisova, who achieved the feat at 17 years and 127 days in 2006, according to OptaAce.

Andreeva also became the youngest player to reach the women’s singles third round at Roland Garros for three consecutive years since Anna Kournikova (1997-1999).

Kournikova never made it past the fourth round in the French capital, with her best attempts coming in 1998 and 1999.

Mirra Andreeva’s record in singles at Grand Slam events

Andreeva played her first Grand Slam event at the French Open in 2023, where she made the third round.

That year, she also made the fourth round of Wimbledon, where she fell to Madison Keys after taking the first set.

In 2024, the Russian had her best campaign at a major, reaching the semi-final of the French Open, ultimately bowing out to Jasmine Paolini.

Her best run at the US Open was a second-round finish, which she achieved in both 2023 and 2024.

She made her second consecutive appearance in the fourth round of the Australian Open this season, before suffering a heavy defeat to Sabalenka.

Andreeva will now look to improve on her stellar 2024 final-four placement at Roland Garros.
