Mirra Andreeva has just broken a record set by Coco Gauff after knocking Emma Navarro out of the Cincinnati Open.
The 2024 Cincinnati Open is up and running, with Andreeva into the second round after an impressive win over Navarro.
Navarro has been in superb form this year, but the 11th seed lost 6-2, 6-2 to rising star Andreeva in round one.
Aged just 17, the latter boasts one title in 2024, having reached the French Open semi-finals earlier this summer.
She was knocked out by fellow WTA star Jasmine Paolini, but will have taken great confidence from that hugely impressive run.

Andreeva is currently preparing for the US Open, using the Cincinnati Open to fine-tune her hard-court game.
And she will take even more confidence from her latest win given the record she has just broken against Navarro, with Gauff having recently advised given Andreeva.
As per OptaAce, Andreeva has the most WTA top 20 wins at WTA-1000 events before turning 18, with her six surpassing Gauff’s five.
She is also the only player to boast a winning record among the 19 under-18 players to face top 20 opponents at WTA-1000 events.
Moreover, aged 17 years and 107 days, she is the youngest player to claim a WTA top 20 win in the Cincinnati Open women’s singles since its reintroduction in 1988.
Can Mirra Andreeva go far at the US Open?
Andreeva reached a career-high WTA ranking of 23rd earlier this summer, but has since dropped one place to 24th.
The Russian came crashing back down to earth at Wimbledon after her superb run at Roland Garros, losing in the first round at SW19.
But she immediately bounced back in superb fashion, with the teenager winning the Iasi Open in Romania.
And that was followed up by the small matter of an Olympic silver medal, which she won alongside Diana Shnaider in the women’s doubles.
But perhaps the biggest prize of them all now awaits Andreeva after the Cincinnati Open, with a strong run at the US Open definitely on the cards.
