Matteo Berrettini saw his Wimbledon campaign come to an end last week after losing to Grigor Dimitrov in the third round.
A former finalist at the Championships, Berrettini fell to Dimitrov in a thrilling five-set match, having almost completed a remarkable comeback from two sets down, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 3-6.
The Italian has endured an injury-ridden last few years on the ATP Tour, having missed eight Grand Slam tournaments over the past eight seasons.

Unfortunately for Berrettini, the injury struggles continue, and now he has ruled himself out of two upcoming tournaments.

Matteo Berrettini diagnosed with chronic hip pain after Wimbledon
In a post on his Instagram story, Berrettini announced he will not feature at the Swiss Open in Gstaad or the Austrian Open in Kitzbuhel due to a hip injury.
The former world number six said: “Hi all, just wanted to share an update that unfortunately I will no longer be playing Gstaad and Kitzbuhel.
“After discussions with my doctor and team, I’ve been diagnosed with chronic hip pain and advised the best course of action is to withdraw and rest in order to be ready for the US swing.
“Thank you for your continued support and see you on the hard courts.”

Both Gstaad and Kitzbuhel are played on clay courts, and are followed by the North American hard-court swing, which features the Canadian Open, the Cincinnati Open and finally the US Open, which is the final Grand Slam of the year.
Berrettini’s best result at the US Open is a semifinal finish, which he managed during the 2021 season.

Matteo Berrettini’s positive signs from last two major runs
After reaching the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open, Berrettini struggled at majors in the following three seasons.
Amid injury struggles, he has made it past the second round of a Grand Slam just once, which was a run to round four at Wimbledon in 2023.
Berrettini was absent from this year’s Australian Open, but at Roland Garros he had his best major campaign in years, making it to the quarterfinals.
While he was knocked out in the third round of Wimbledon, Berrettini showed positive signs in SW19, beating 20th seed Arthur Fils and going the distance with Dimitrov.
There is plenty to build on for the 30-year-old, who will continue his pursuit of a maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open.
